About.
I'm Jordan Evatt — a platform engineer, hopeful entrepreneur, and lifelong hacker. I created Evatt Labs as the home for my software work and side projects.
I have a BS in Computer Science and nearly 20 years of professional experience as a software and systems engineer. My career has taken me through automotive defect management, a print shop, a K-12 health education platform, a sports site with its own social media ecosystem, an SEO marketing SaaS company, and for the last 9+ years, a healthcare enterprise where I work as a senior platform/cloud engineer.
What drives me is building things and figuring out how they work under the hood. I've spent most of my career automating processes and connecting systems together — and I still get that same rush when a scripted workflow runs end to end for the first time. I'm also neurodivergent (autistic and ADHD), and AI tooling has been a genuine game changer for how I work and build.
I've been on the internet and using Linux since the '90s. I started out in IRC on EFnet with other Linux hackers — and that community shaped everything about how I think about software, systems, and the open internet.
Outside of code, I'm passionate about LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights, and social justice. I'm transgender, a lesbian, and unapologetically liberal. I care deeply about building technology that serves people, not the other way around.
When I'm not building things, you'll find me listening to trance music, watching anime, tinkering with my homelab, or diving into whatever new rabbit hole has caught my attention.
